REMIND ME YESTERDAY

A little less
to remember.

A practical guide to plans, reminders, email and everyday jobs. Start with one thing. Come back whenever you need a hand.

Guide for the next trial update · 8 October 2026. Some features below are not in older TestFlight builds yet.

Search the guide, or choose a topic below. Your search stays in this browser.

Start with one real plan

You do not need to organise your whole life before Yesterday can help. Start with one invitation, appointment or trip.

  1. Open Add. Type or paste the message, choose a photo, or import a supported file.
  2. Choose Review plan. Check the title, date, time and location before saving.
  3. Save the plan. If preparations are suggested, choose their reminder times in the follow-up screen.
  4. Open the plan from Next whenever you want to change details or talk it through.

Find what matters: Now, Next and Inbox

Each screen answers a different question.

  1. Now: what needs attention, plus events coming up in the next 24 hours. Complete a task with its completion control.
  2. Next: your saved plans. Use the week or month view to see the bigger picture, and open a plan for its preparations.
  3. Inbox: email the app has checked. Open an item to review it, make a plan, or use its menu to add a task or reminder.
  4. Lists: open the checklist toolbar icon for shopping lists and Everyday jobs. Archive is in Settings.

Dates, times and pasted messages

Add reads typed, pasted and extracted text through the same date step.

  1. Paste an invitation such as “School event Saturday 1730”. Review should show Saturday at 5:30pm.
  2. Check the displayed date. Use the date controls to correct it before saving.
  3. If no date is clear, choose one or save an undated plan. A reminder needs a date and time.
  4. For a finish time, enable the end date/time control. Review a range carefully if the text mentions several dates or times.

Choose reminders and hear alerts

A suggested task is useful advice; its reminder time is a separate choice.

  1. After saving through Add, choose a time for each suggested task and press Set this reminder.
  2. Choose Keep as a task without an alert if you want it available without a scheduled notification, or Not needed to dismiss it.
  3. If you leave the review, use Choose reminder times on Now or inside the plan to return.
  4. In Settings → Notifications, allow notifications and choose the standard or retro alarm-clock sound.
  5. Tap a delivered notification to open its task. Mark it done when you have actually completed it.

Talk from anywhere

The shared chat can work on plans, email, tasks, lists and everyday jobs. Opening it from a plan or email supplies context; it does not restrict what you can ask.

  1. Say what you want, for example “Add washing up as a daily job” or “Move this visit to Saturday”.
  2. Name the plan or person if several could match. For a repeating event, say “just this visit” or “future visits too”.
  3. Read the proposed changes and any question. A proposal is not saved until you confirm it.
  4. If the proposal misses something, explain the correction before confirming.
  5. After saving, open the relevant plan or list to see the result.

Everyday jobs at your pace

Everyday jobs are recurring work such as washing up, laundry or household admin. They are separate from calendar events and shopping items.

  1. During setup, choose Everyday jobs, or later open Lists → Everyday jobs.
  2. Choose common jobs from the grouped picker. Nothing is preselected. You can also add your own.
  3. Tap a job to change its repeat, next date, estimated minutes or importance.
  4. Tick it off when done. Its next date moves forward from completion; missed copies do not pile up.
  5. Use I have some time to choose your available minutes and see up to three due jobs that fit together.
  6. Chat can propose adding, changing, completing, undoing or removing a job; review and confirm those changes.

Shopping and ongoing lists

Keep items you need without attaching a reminder time to each one.

  1. Open the checklist toolbar button and choose a list, or add an item to a named list.
  2. Try “Add hand soap to my shopping list” in chat.
  3. Tick an item when finished. Completed items remain available so you can reopen them.
  4. Use Everyday jobs for work that should recur after completion.

Connect calendars and email

Connect the accounts that contain useful information about your week.

  1. Open Settings → Connected sources and choose the service.
  2. Complete the provider sign-in and return to Yesterday. Check that the app shows the connected account.
  3. For calendars, select the calendars you actually want included, then sync.
  4. For email, check the account address and open Inbox after checking mail.
  5. If you use several mailboxes in Outlook, do not assume signing in to one Microsoft account includes every mailbox shown by your Outlook app.

Turn email into something useful

Email can supply a new event, a deadline, an attachment or a change to an existing plan.

  1. Open Inbox and review a checked email.
  2. Use the three-dot menu to add a task or reminder, or review its suggested plan.
  3. Use Talk to explain what you want from the email, including an unrelated request if you wish.
  4. Check the proposed date, deadline and tasks before confirming. Open attached links or documents from the retained source information where available.
  5. When searching, distinguish Find in checked emails from a chat search of connected email.

Photos, PDFs, Word and sharing

Bring in the original information so you can check what the app understood.

  1. In Add, use the camera or photo picker for an invitation or screenshot. You can also paste text directly.
  2. Import a supported PDF, .DOCX, email file, plain text, calendar .ICS file or Yesterday plan.
  3. Review extracted text and correct names, dates and numbers before using it.
  4. From another app, choose Share and look for Yesterday. Shared items may wait in Add for your review.
  5. Keep the original attachment available when the extracted text is incomplete.

Plans change; decide what should change with them

Preparations can depend on a plan’s start, finish or something happening during it.

  1. Open the plan and say what changed, such as an earlier departure or a cancelled activity.
  2. For repeating plans, state whether the change is one occurrence or the usual pattern.
  3. Review affected preparations, reminders and any proposed remembered rule.
  4. If a source update conflicts with your local choice, use the review controls to keep your choice or use the source update.

Share a plan with someone else

Choose the format according to what the recipient needs.

  1. Open the plan’s sharing controls and choose a Yesterday plan to transfer its supported plan information to another copy of Yesterday.
  2. Choose a calendar .ICS export when the recipient needs an entry in another calendar app.
  3. The recipient imports and reviews the file before saving it.

Your data and AI choices

Your saved plans and original attachments live on your device. Cloud interpretation sends relevant text through the app’s AI service.

  1. Review the cloud-processing explanation before enabling AI.
  2. Use Settings → AI connection to change cloud and automatic-review choices.
  3. Use Settings → Privacy to hide plan details in phone notifications.
  4. Disconnect a source when you no longer want it checked; remove saved plans separately if needed.

When something does not look right

Start with the saved state, not just the wording of a chat reply.

  1. Missing task: check whether you confirmed the proposal, whether it is undated, and whether it belongs to a different plan or list.
  2. Wrong date: open the plan and correct it; include the original wording when reporting the problem.
  3. No alert: check that a reminder time was chosen, the task is active, and iPhone notification and sound permissions are enabled.
  4. Email missing: check the connected account, refresh, and distinguish checked-email filtering from mailbox search.
  5. Slow AI: let the current request finish if possible; avoid repeatedly submitting the same action. If it fails, check whether anything was saved before retrying.
  6. For a freeze or crash, send TestFlight feedback with the build number, approximate time and steps. Do not send passwords or connection keys.
